April 4, 2016 | By Samantha J. Evian

Ending a marriage is never an easy process. It most likely will be emotionally draining, financially difficult and extremely stressful. It is important to know that you are not alone and there are countless professionals who can guide you through this difficult time in your life so you can better manage your situation, your finances and your family.   Your team should be comprised of professionals who will lead you through the process from a legal and financial standpoint. However, it is also important to surround yourself with individuals who can help you through the emotional challenges you will most likely encounter.

Depending on your particular situation, your team may need to include a financial advisor, tax advisor, forensic accountant, real estate advisor, therapist and/ or a business valuator.  Your attorney should work with you to put together a team of professionals that are best-suited for your individual case and specific needs. In some cases, these professionals are only needed for consultation but in others, they serve as experts who are used to assist in preparing your case for trial or settling your matter.  Choosing the right experts and putting together your team is critical.

It is imperative that you determine what is important to you and that you communicate this to your team so they can work toward attaining your desired results. Understanding that you do not need to go through this alone and professionals deal with these issues daily will allow you to move through this process and ultimately get you and your family to a better place.
